Kitchen Remodel in Fairfield, Ca.
Details about this kitchen
This kitchen remodel was completed in Feb 2014. New semi custom Kraftmaid Dove White cabinets with quartz counter tops and stone tile back splash. Stainless steel appliances that tie in beautifully with the drawer/door pulls as well as the pencil tile we used to border the back splash.
The upper cabinets are 54″ tall which really balanced out the 10′ ceilings quite well. The pantry cabinets included roll out shelves and all doors and drawers are cushion self closing. There is a custom angle cabinet we made to match the rest, to finish off the sink island to the side of the dishwasher. There was originally a solid blank panel there that held light and disposal switches. That was not only a waste of space but occasionally meant accidental flipping of those switches while working in that area. We relocated light switches to the end of the pony wall, and installed an air switch for the disposal that sits up near the sink. We removed a big tile back splash ledge from behind the sink for a nice flat quartz counter top that helped keep a more open flow into the family room.
Appliances included new stainless steel gas range with warmer drawer. This is being vented through a flush cover stainless steel exhaust fan, that pulls out when in use, but otherwise allowed a nice clean flush look with the cabints. We also installed an under cabinet microwave with drawer design. This flush mounts into the cabinetry for a nice solid built in look. A simple push of a button opens and closes the drawer for easy access to your food. New stainless dishwasher, sink faucet all tied in with stainless steel drawer pulls and door knobs.
We installed LED under cabinet lighting replacing the florescent fixtures that were originally used. These are dimmable with no bulbs to replace or ballasts to go out over time. These pictures were taken without dimming, quite bright for task lighting and can be dimmed down to a nice low ambient lighting for show.
The tile floor was already in before the kitchen remodel. We planned the new cabinetry with that in mind. Some cutting of the tile in a few locations and you’d never know it wasn’t all done at the same time. We installed the stone tile back splash with stainless steel look pencil tile as a border, finished with urethane grout. Between the stone tile sealer and urethane grout it will insure years of easy cleaning and stain resistance.
