Kitchen Remodel in Cordelia
A little about this kitchen project
Here is a kitchen remodel completed in the Cordelia area of Fairfield, Ca.
As you may notice in the “before” pictures, this kitchen remodel was more about creating a kitchen to reflect the owner’s personal taste in her newly purchased home, rather than rebuilding a kitchen that needed repairs to be functional.
Working with the owner during the initial kitchen remodel design phase, it was easy to get excited as decisions were being made. The choice of cabinets included some nice functional upgrades such as a lazy susan corner base cabinet, larger built in pantry cabinet with pull out shelving, and self closing drawers to name a few. The finish colors came together very well as we matched the Kraftmaid “Willow” cabinet finish with Corian solid surface “Aurora” countertops with integral “Bone” sink and Jeffrey Court “French Palace” mosaic tile backsplash. The tile backsplash was finished with Quartzlock2 urethane grout which never needs sealing to keep it’s long life water and stain resistance.
Prior to installing the new wall cabinets we set up to include under cabinet lighting to operate on a standard wall switch with all cords and outlets hidden from view.
Some other changes included removing the fluorescent light ceiling box to install recessed can lighting. A ceiling fan with lights replaced a hanging light fixture. An over-the-range convection microwave was added in place of the standard range hood, we kept the other existing appliances as they were already newer.
We also custom made a built-in-place window seat which was a nice touch in both style and storage.
And of course all new plumbing at the double bowl sink including a color matched Moen pullout sprayer faucet, dishwasher vent cap, and a nice quiet Evolution Compact disposal.
