Settlement cracks

can appear over time due to foundation and building settling. They can also appear more quickly in some new construction due to framing settling or drying out and shifting. We’ll determine whether the crack can be reinforced and patched or whether a section of drywall should be removed and replaced. Most can be repaired by reinforcing and patching, while others may give longer lasting results by removing and replacing a section.

Holes in the wall

are always better repaired by removing an area larger than the damage. Cutting it back to existing studs or adding additional backing framing during the repair for a solid repair isn’t all that difficult and will be the strongest repair choice.

Water damage repairs

will include cutting the sheet rock back to areas that remained dry. Not removing the wet sheetrock may otherwise allow for mold and/or mildew to grow inside the wall where the moisture remains for much longer when not exposed to air. Drywall will also begin to fall apart anyway depending on the length of time and amount of moisture it was exposed to.

Matching wall texture

will make or break your drywall repair. There is a wide variety of textures and methods for applying them. It can take years of experience to know what is the best application method and materials used to complete a wall patch so that it blends with your existing texture. We use a variety of methods and materials depending on what we’re matching. Sometimes that means spraying the texture on using various equipment, other times it can be applied by hand using various tools and methods.

Even certain upgrades or repairs like plumbing and electrical changes may require the removal of sheetrock to perform those tasks efficiently. Even if we aren’t the contractor you used for the plumbing, electrical or other trade’s repairs, we will gladly offer our services for patching those intrusions. Quite often a “plumber” or “electrician” will not provide the wall repairs after other repairs that required opening up the wall. Maybe they’ll refer you to someone they know, or maybe they’ll just leave it to you to call around.
